The essentials in 30 seconds

A sales pitch is a short message that shows one buyer how you solve their problem, with proof and a clear next step.

  • Keep 4 formats ready: a one-sentence pitch, a 30-second pitch, a value proposition and a call script.
  • Build every pitch on one buyer, one problem, one proof and one next step.
  • Back each benefit with proof the buyer can check, or note the proof to collect.
  • Prepare an answer and a proof for the 6 objections you hear most.
  • Copy the 5-line sales pitch template below to write your first version.
  • The free sales pitch generator reads your website and drafts your full pitch kit in under a minute.

You know your product well. But when a prospect asks what you do, your answer often runs long or sounds like your homepage. The sales pitch examples below help you say it in 1 sentence, then in 30 seconds.

A pitch that tries to say everything to everyone leaves buyers with nothing to remember. Your sales team then improvises, and each rep tells a different story.

A good pitch picks one buyer, one problem and one proof. The examples, the template and the script below all follow that rule. Copy them, adapt them and test them on your next calls.

5 sales pitch examples for common B2B situations

The companies below are fictional: their names, products and customers are invented for these examples. Each example shows one format, so you can see how the same rules apply from a single sentence to a follow-up email.

Example 1. A one-sentence pitch for Drovanta

Drovanta is a fictional route planning software for delivery firms.

“Drovanta helps regional delivery companies plan tomorrow's routes in a few clicks, without hiring another dispatcher.”

Why it works. It names the buyer, the task and the gain in one breath. A dispatcher hears it and knows right away if it applies to them.

Example 2. A 30-second pitch for Pactorin

Pactorin is a fictional contract review tool for in-house legal teams.

“In-house legal teams review sales contracts every week, and much of that time goes to the same clauses. Pactorin flags risky clauses and suggests your approved wording, so your lawyers focus on the points that need judgment. Want to see it on one of your own contracts in a short demo?”

Why it works. It follows a simple order: problem, solution, proof, question. The proof is a demo on the buyer's own contract, and the ending asks for a small step the buyer can easily accept.

Example 3. A pitch to open a discovery call for Ledgerline

Ledgerline is a fictional spend management tool for finance teams.

“Thanks for your time. We help finance teams at growing companies close the month faster by matching receipts to card spend. Before I say more, I'd like to understand how you handle this today. Could you walk me through your last month-end close?”

Why it works. The pitch takes about 15 seconds, then hands the floor to the buyer. You earn the right to go into detail once you know their process.

Example 4. A follow-up email after a demo for Tracebay

Tracebay is a fictional quality tracking software for manufacturers.

Hi [First name],

Thanks for the demo on Thursday. You named 2 priorities: tracing a faulty batch within a day and passing your next audit.

In the demo, you saw Tracebay trace a batch back to its supplier from a single screen. The sample audit report your quality lead asked for is attached.

As a next step, I suggest a 2-week pilot on 1 production line. Can we book a 30-minute kickoff with your quality lead next week?

[Your name]

Why it works. It repeats the buyer's priorities in their own words. Then it links each one to what they saw and proposes a concrete next step.

Example 5. A pitch for a buyer who already uses another solution, for Signalroom

Signalroom is a fictional customer support software.

“If you already use a help desk tool, it probably works well for email tickets. The gap shows up when chat, phone and email live in separate places. Signalroom puts all 3 channels in one queue and imports your current tickets. Would it help to compare a week of your tickets side by side?”

Why it works. It respects the buyer's current choice instead of attacking it. Then it points to one gap and offers a low-risk comparison.

What is a sales pitch? The 4 formats to keep ready

A sales pitch is a short message that explains how you solve a buyer's problem. Its job is to earn a next step, like a reply, a call or a demo.

You'll use it in several formats. The core message stays the same: only the length and the channel change.

FormatWhat it's forRough lengthWhen to use it
One-sentence pitchSay what you do, for whom and with what result1 sentence, about 20 to 25 wordsIntroductions, events, your LinkedIn profile, the top of an email
30-second pitchWalk through the problem, the solution and one proof60 words at mostFirst calls, meetings, networking
Value propositionState the main benefit your buyer gets1 sentenceWebsite, offer pages, sales decks
Call scriptGuide a full sales conversationAbout 1 page in 4 partsCold calls, discovery calls

These lengths are rough guides. Adapt them to your offer and your sales cycle.

What makes a good sales pitch in B2B

One buyer, one problem, one proof, one next step

A pitch that targets everyone convinces no one. Pick one buyer role and the problem that costs them the most. Add one proof they can check, like a customer result or a live demo. Then end with one next step, such as a 20-minute call.

Speak to the whole buying committee

In B2B, one person rarely signs alone. A finance lead, an IT lead and the end users may all have a say, and each of them cares about something different. So prepare a short version of your pitch for each role and keep the core message the same.

Plan for a long sales cycle

B2B deals can take weeks or months to close. Your pitch has to survive that time and travel without you. Write it so your contact can repeat it to their boss in 2 sentences. Then reuse the same proof in every follow-up.

How to write a sales pitch in 7 steps

  1. Understand the buyer and their problem. Talk to 3 to 5 customers or reread your call notes. Write down the exact words they use to describe their problem. Those words go straight into your pitch.
  2. Write the value proposition. Sum up in 1 sentence what your buyer gets. Start from the result for them, then name your offer.
  3. Turn features into benefits. For each feature, ask “so what?” until you reach a result the buyer cares about. “Receipt matching” becomes “you close the month faster.”
  4. Gather proof. List the customer results, quotes, case studies and certifications you can show. Use only proof you can back up. If a proof is missing, add it to your team's to-do list.
  5. Prepare discovery questions. Write 6 to 8 open questions about the buyer's process, costs and priorities. Good questions help the buyer see the problem for themselves.
  6. Prepare answers to objections. List the objections your sales team hears most often. Write a short answer and a proof for each one.
  7. Test the pitch with your sales team and adjust it. Role-play it in a team meeting, then use it on 5 to 10 real calls. Keep what gets replies and cut what gets blank looks.

A sales pitch template you can copy

Fill in the brackets with your own words. Keep each line to 1 short sentence.

For [buyer]
who [problem],
[offer] helps [benefit].
Unlike [alternative], it [key difference].
[Proof].

Here is the same sales pitch template filled in for Nightkeel. Nightkeel is a fictional company: its product, pages and customers are invented for this example. It sells backup software to small businesses.

For owners of small businesses with 5 to 50 employees
who would lose days of work if a laptop died or got hit by ransomware,
Nightkeel backs up every computer and shared drive each night, with no IT skills needed.
Unlike manual copies on an external drive, it runs on its own and keeps 90 days of versions.
To collect: a short story from a customer who restored their files after an incident.

What if you don't have a proof yet? Write “To collect:” followed by the proof you need, then ask someone on your team to find it. The free generator on this page does the same for every benefit your website doesn't back.

Objection handling in 4 steps

An objection often means the buyer needs more information. Use these 4 steps to answer it calmly.

  1. Listen. Let the buyer finish. Don't jump in with an answer.
  2. Rephrase. Repeat the objection in your own words to check you understood. “So your concern is the budget for this quarter, right?”
  3. Answer with proof. Give a short answer, then back it with a customer result, a demo or a document.
  4. Check. Ask if your answer settles the concern. “Does that address it, or is there something else?”

6 common B2B objections and how to answer them

ObjectionWhat it often meansSuggested answer
“It's too expensive.”The value isn't clear yet“I understand. What will this problem cost you over the next 12 months if nothing changes?”
“We already have a solution.”Switching feels risky“That makes sense. What works well with it, and where does your team still lose time?”
“Now isn't the right time.”Other priorities come first“Fair enough. What has to happen for this to become a priority? I'll follow up then.”
“I need to talk to my boss.”Your contact doesn't decide alone“Of course. What will your boss want to know? I can send a 1-page summary or join the call.”
“You're too small for us.”The buyer fears a risky vendor“That's a fair concern. Let me show you how we support teams your size, with a named contact.”
“Just send me some information.”A polite way to end the call“Happy to. What's the 1 question this information should answer for you?”

A sales script template in 4 parts

This sales script template keeps a call on track without making it sound read. Each part fits in 1 or 2 sentences.

1. Opening

Say who you are and why you're calling. Then ask for a few minutes.

“Hi [First name], this is [Your name] from [Company]. I'm calling about [problem]. Do you have 2 minutes?”

2. Discovery

Ask open questions and let the buyer do most of the talking.

“How do you handle [task] today, and what happens when it goes wrong?”

3. Pitch

Link your offer to what the buyer just told you. Use their words, then add one proof.

“You mentioned [pain]. [Offer] helps teams like yours [benefit]. For example, [proof].”

4. Close

Ask for one clear next step with a date.

“Would a 30-minute demo with your [role] work next Tuesday or Thursday?”

Mistakes to avoid in your sales pitch

  • Talking about yourself first. Start with the buyer's problem, then bring in your company.
  • Listing every feature. Pick the 2 or 3 benefits that matter to this buyer.
  • Using vague claims. Words like “leading” or “innovative” prove nothing. Use a fact the buyer can check.
  • Inventing proof. A made-up figure can kill trust in a deal. If you lack proof, collect it first.
  • Attacking a competitor. Show your difference instead of criticizing another vendor.
  • Skipping discovery. If you pitch before you ask questions, you're guessing what the buyer needs.
  • Ending without a next step. Close every pitch with one clear and small ask.

How the free sales pitch generator works

The sales pitch generator of Mark AI drafts your pitch kit from your website. It's free and needs no sign-up.

  1. Enter your website address. If you want, add the offer you sell (160 characters at most) and the buyer you target (120 characters at most). These texts aren't in the share link.
  2. Let Mark read your site. Mark reads up to 5 pages to understand your offer, your buyers and your proof. If your site blocks robots, describe your offer instead: Mark then writes from that text alone.
  3. Get your pitch kit in under a minute: a one-sentence pitch and a 30-second pitch, a one-sentence value proposition, 2 or 3 buyers with their pains and 3 benefits each, 3 differentiators against the status quo or a type of alternative, answers to 6 objections, 6 to 8 discovery questions, a call script in 4 parts and a follow-up email.
  4. Review the kit and put it to work. Check each line, collect the missing proof and test the pitch on real calls.

What the tool doesn't do

  • It doesn't invent proof. Every proof is a sentence from your website, checked word for word on the page it quotes. Without one, the tool writes “To collect:” followed by the proof to find.
  • It doesn't replace your review. Mark removes the sentences that cite a figure, a date, a study, a person, a customer or a competitor it can't find in your pages. Check every claim before you use it.
  • It doesn't replace the field. Listening to your customers and training your sales team still come first.

Then turn your pitch into content with Mark

Once your pitch is reviewed, Mark turns it into prospecting emails, LinkedIn posts and offer pages, in your brand voice. Your team reviews before publishing. This next step needs a sign-up.

Sales pitch FAQ

What is a sales pitch?

A sales pitch is a short message that explains how you solve a buyer's problem. It aims to earn a next step, such as a reply, a call or a demo. You can deliver it in 1 sentence, in 30 seconds or as a full call script.

What makes a good sales pitch?

A good sales pitch focuses on one buyer, one problem, one proof and one next step. It uses the buyer's own words. It also stays short enough for your contact to repeat it to their team.

How long should a sales pitch be?

As a rough guide, keep a one-sentence pitch to about 20 to 25 words. A 30-second pitch fits in 60 words at most. A pitch sent by email reads well in under 100 words.

What is objection handling?

Objection handling is how you respond when a buyer raises a concern. A simple method has 4 steps: listen, rephrase, answer with proof and check. It helps you clear the concern and keep the conversation going.

How do you answer “it's too expensive”?

First, ask what the buyer compares your offer with. Then bring the talk back to what the problem costs them today, in hours, errors or lost deals. Back your answer with a customer result you can prove.

What should a sales script template include?

A sales script template should include 4 parts: an opening, discovery questions, the pitch and a close. Write 1 sample line for each part, and leave room to adapt it to each buyer.

Is the sales pitch generator free?

Yes. The sales pitch generator is free and needs no sign-up, and your result arrives in under a minute. To turn your pitch into emails, posts and offer pages with Mark, you create an account.

What if my website blocks robots?

Mark then asks you to describe your offer: what you sell, to whom, what sets you apart and your proof. The pitch is written from that text alone, and each benefit shows the proof to collect. Your description never shows in the share link.
