Free product description generator: Your product page scored out of 100, then rewritten to sell
Enter the address of a product page. Mark scores it on 6 criteria (SEO, benefits, trust signals, structured data) and rewrites it: title tag, meta description, benefits, description and FAQ.
The essentials in 30 seconds
A product description presents one product so it sells and ranks in Google. This generator scores yours out of 100, then rewrites it using only the facts on the page.
- Enter the address of a product page, or paste the page text if the site blocks bots.
- Mark reads the text, the title tag, the meta description, the H1 and the Product structured data of the page.
- The page is scored out of 100 on 6 criteria: SEO tags, keyword, benefits, structure, trust signals and structured data.
- You get the top fixes and the rewritten page: title tag, meta description, hook, benefits, description, specs and FAQ.
- The analysis is free, no sign-up. The translation, the Amazon version and your whole catalog open in Mark.
Your product page decides whether a shopper buys or goes back to Google. Yet many pages reuse the supplier's text and skip the questions buyers ask. So the page ranks poorly and converts little.
Most AI product description generators ask for a product name and write from there. This one reads your real product page first. It scores the page out of 100 and lists the fixes that matter most. Then it rewrites the page in its own language, using only the facts it found. It's free, needs no sign-up, and gives you a result in under 1 minute.
What is a product description?
A product description is the text on a product page that presents a single product. It tells shoppers what the product does and why it fits their needs. It covers benefits, specs and the details that remove doubt, like shipping, returns and reviews. It has 2 jobs: it must persuade buyers and rank in Google.
Product pages capture precise searches, like "insulated water bottle 17 oz". A shopper who types that already knows what they want. So your description must give them everything they need to decide.
What a good product description includes
A good product description answers the questions a sales associate would hear in a store. Check that your page includes these 10 elements:
- A title tag that contains the keyword and stays under 65 characters.
- A meta description of 155 characters or less that makes people want to click.
- A clear H1 that names the product.
- A hook of 2 or 3 lines that says who the product is for and what it does.
- 4 to 6 benefits in bullets, placed before the specs.
- A unique description, split into short paragraphs with subheadings.
- Exact specs, such as dimensions, material or care instructions.
- Trust signals: price, availability, reviews, shipping, returns and warranty.
- An FAQ that handles doubts before the purchase.
- Product structured data, so Google can read the price, the stock and the rating.
If one element is missing, the shopper hesitates. And if they have to hunt for your return policy, they often leave to compare elsewhere.
Product description example: before and after
This product description example is fictional. It covers an insulated water bottle sold by an imaginary store.
The weak version
- Title: Water bottle
- H1: Bottle
- Description: Insulated bottle, 18/8 stainless steel. 17 oz. Cold 24 hrs, hot 12 hrs. Screw cap. Hand wash only. Colors blue, black, green. Quality product, perfect for everyone.
- Price: $29.99
This page lists facts but never says what they change for the buyer. The title is too short and the H1 barely names the product. There are no reviews, no shipping times and no return terms. And "perfect for everyone" speaks to nobody.
The rewritten version
- SEO title: Insulated water bottle 17 oz: cold 24 hours, hot 12 hours
- Meta description: Insulated stainless steel water bottle, 17 oz. Your drinks stay cold for 24 hours and hot for 12. Screw cap, 3 colors. Pick yours.
- H1: Insulated stainless steel water bottle, 17 oz
- Hook: Your water stays cold all day, and your coffee stays hot for 12 hours.
Benefits:
- Cold drinks for 24 hours, for a full day at the office or on the trail.
- Hot drinks for 12 hours, from your morning coffee to the evening.
- A 17 oz capacity for your commute and your workday.
- A screw cap, so you can toss the bottle in your bag.
- An 18/8 stainless steel body that you wash by hand.
- 3 colors to choose from: blue, black or green.
Description: This insulated bottle goes with you from morning to night. Fill it with cold water before you leave, and it stays cold for 24 hours. Do you prefer tea or coffee? It stays hot for 12 hours.
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Material | 18/8 stainless steel |
| Capacity | 17 oz |
| Insulation | 24 hours cold, 12 hours hot |
| Closure | Screw cap |
| Care | Hand wash only |
| Price | $29.99 |
FAQ:
- Is the bottle dishwasher safe? No, wash it by hand.
- How long does it keep drinks hot? It keeps them hot for 12 hours, and cold for 24 hours.
Information to add: shipping times, return policy, warranty and customer reviews.
The rewritten version uses only the facts from the original page. It turns them into benefits and flags what's missing.
How to write a product description that sells, in 6 steps
1. Pick the keyword your shoppers type
A SKU like "BTL-17" only means something to your warehouse team. Shoppers type "insulated water bottle 17 oz" instead. Put that term in the title, the H1, the meta description and the opening of the description.
2. Write a hook that says who it's for and what it does
The first 2 or 3 lines answer a single question: what does the buyer get from this product?
3. Turn every spec into a benefit
For each spec, ask yourself "so what?". "Cold 24 hrs" becomes "your water stays cold all day". Keep the spec too, because the buyer wants the proof.
4. Structure the page for fast reading
On mobile, shoppers scan the page before they read it. Use bullet points and subheadings. Keep your paragraphs to 2 or 3 sentences.
5. Remove doubts before the purchase
Show the price, availability, shipping, returns and warranty near the buy button. Add an FAQ with the questions your support team receives.
6. Keep your brand voice
Your page should sound like your brand, from the title to the FAQ. If your voice rules aren't written down yet, the brand voice generator helps you set them.
SEO product description: tags, structured data and unique content
Product description SEO comes down to 3 areas. Work on them in this order.
Title tag, meta description and H1
The title tag shows up as the blue headline in Google. Keep it under 65 characters so it doesn't get cut off. The meta description doesn't affect rankings, but it does influence clicks: keep it to 155 characters. The H1 names the product with the main keyword.
Product structured data
Schema.org structured data describes the product in a format Google reads directly. The Product type carries the name, the brand and an identifier like a SKU or GTIN. The offer adds the price and availability, and the review rating completes the set. This markup makes the page eligible for rich results, but it doesn't guarantee them. Check that every value matches what the page displays.
Unique content for every page
If you copy the manufacturer's description, dozens of sites publish the same text. Google then has no reason to prefer your page. Rewrite each description in your own words, around your customers' questions.
How the tool scores your product page
Mark reads the public version of your product page: the text, the title tag, the meta description, the H1 and the Product structured data. Then it awards points across 6 criteria:
| Criterion | Points | What Mark checks |
|---|---|---|
| SEO tags | 15 | Title, meta description, H1 |
| Keyword | 15 | Presence in the title, the H1, the meta description and the opening of the description |
| Description and benefits | 25 | Length, weight of customer benefits versus specs |
| Structure and readability | 15 | Bullet points, subheadings, FAQ, short paragraphs |
| Trust signals | 15 | Price, availability, reviews, shipping and returns, warranty |
| Structured data | 15 | Product schema, price and availability, brand and identifier, review rating |
| Total | 100 |
Your score falls into 1 of 4 levels: Weak from 0 to 39, Average from 40 to 59, Good from 60 to 79 and Excellent from 80 to 100.
If you enter your target keyword, Mark uses it. Otherwise, it picks the term shoppers type into Google. The AI only steps in twice: to pick that keyword and to judge how the description sells benefits. Everything else is measured on the page.
Does your page block bots? Paste the text of your product page. Mark then can't read the tags or the structured data, so the score covers the other 4 criteria, scaled to 100.
Next, you see the Google preview before and after the rewrite. A button copies the rewritten page so you can paste it into Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop or another admin panel. The tool analyzes 1 page at a time. It publishes nothing and doesn't track your traffic or your sales.
Product description template
Reuse this template for any product. Fill each slot with facts from your page or your supplier.
- SEO title: [product type] + [key attribute] + [size or model], 65 characters max.
- Meta description: [main benefit] + [a fact from the page] + [call to action], 155 characters max.
- H1: [product name with the main keyword].
- Hook: [who it's for] + [what it helps them do], in 2 or 3 lines.
- Benefits: 4 to 6 bullets, each starting with what the buyer gets.
- Description: 2 or 3 short paragraphs on use, care and the ideal buyer.
- Specs: [dimensions], [material], [capacity], [care], [price].
- Trust block: availability, shipping, returns, warranty and reviews.
- FAQ: the questions your support team hears most often.
If a fact is missing, leave the slot empty and go find it. A blank slot is easier to fix than a wrong number.
How to write dozens or hundreds of product descriptions
Rewriting 1 product page takes time. Rewriting 500 takes a method.
Start by setting priorities: handle the pages that sell the most or carry the best margin first. Then use the same template for every page, with the blocks in the same order. Also set your tone rules and your terminology, so 2 writers produce the same style.
Keep a human review, especially on specs and prices. Plan a separate version for marketplaces too: an Amazon listing follows its own rules for titles and bullets.
The free tool handles 1 page at a time. It also counts the product pages listed in your sitemap, so you can size the project. In Mark AI, you get the page translated into other languages and the Amazon version. You can also rewrite your whole catalog in bulk, and your team reviews each page before it goes live.
Product description FAQ
How long should a product description be?
There's no ideal word count. Your description should answer every buying question without filler. A technical product usually needs more text than a simple accessory.
Can I use the manufacturer's description?
You can use it as a source of facts. But if you publish it as is, your page looks like every other reseller's page. Rewrite it in your own words, around your customers' questions.
Is an AI product description generator good for SEO?
It depends on the facts it starts from. A generator that writes from a product name alone may add claims you can't back up. This tool reads your page, scores it and uses only the facts it finds.
How do I write a product description when information is missing?
List what's missing first, like shipping times or a size chart. Ask your supplier or your fulfillment team for that data. Never make up a number, because the buyer will check it when the package arrives.
Do I need structured data on my product pages?
It's optional, but it helps Google read the price, availability and review rating. It also makes your page eligible for rich results. In the tool's score, structured data counts for 15 points out of 100.
Should my Amazon listing match my website description?
No, because Amazon sets its own rules for titles, bullets and descriptions. Adapt your page before you publish it on the marketplace. In Mark AI, you get that Amazon version.
Does the tool work with Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop?
Yes, as long as the product page is public: Mark reads it the way a visitor does, whatever the platform. If your site blocks bots, just paste the page text. A button then copies the rewritten version for your admin panel.
